Jonathan is co-founding director of Touch TD - a company that delivers projects using a unique approach bringing the insights gained from anthropology and thick data methods to the business side of tourism and heritage. After an initial career in mining and exploration geology, for the past 20 years Jonathan has worked on developing, managing and delivering research, training and capacity building for projects and consultancy in the areas of tourism, cultural heritage and development - Areas of specialism include Intangible cultural heritage, geopark development and development in conflict and post-conflict regions.
He is an active member of The Royal Anthropology Institute, Geology Society and of ICOMOS UK including the ICOMOS International Cultural Tourism Committee. In particular this has led to Jonathan making contributions in the area of sustainable tourism proposals at UNESCO World Heritage projects in mixed cultural/natural sites.
He is currently navigating his way through the final stages of a doctoral thesis providing ‘a critical analysis of the emergent UNESCO endorsed Global Geoparks Network’.
