Inaugural meeting of the Greater Manchester

Tourism Society Chapter

We welcome both members and non-members to attend of Tourism Society.

Please feel free to forward this event and bring along colleagues and friends who work in tourism and related sectors. This event is a first step to kick-start the creation and growth of a new Tourism Society Chapter in Greater Manchester.

Our aim for the new Chapter is to provide a regular forum for industry networking, the sharing of knowledge and ideas, discussion and debate about topics and issues of mutual interest, and to further develop tourism and its recognition within our region.

We feel there is a lot of potential to create a new Tourism Society Chapter in Greater Manchester, given that Manchester was named 8th best travel destination in the world in 2016, and Greater Manchester’s visitor economy supports 93,000 jobs and generates £7.9bn annually. While based primarily in Manchester for reasons of accessibility, we warmly welcome members from throughout the North West region and surrounding counties including Derbyshire, Staffordshire, and Yorkshire, and northern Wales.

Want to know more about the £78m plans for The Factory arts space which will become the permanent home of the Manchester International Festival? Interested in a behind-the-scenes look at RHS’s fifth national garden to be established in Salford? Wondering about the plans for the refurbishment of Manchester’s Victorian Town Hall? Want to present your business at a dedicated lunch for regional tourism professionals? We are only just getting started with ideas for future events and we welcome all and any suggestions!

Share our enthusiasm? Join us on September 7  and we’ll make a start on establishing a Greater Manchester Tourism Society Chapter. Please feel free to forward this email to, and bring along colleagues and friends who work in tourism and related sectors, whether members or non-members. Hope to see you there!
