Salary Range: £30000 - £35000

Go To Places is the only officially recognised organisation delivering destination management services across multiple counties in the UK.  It seeks to grow the UK visitor economy through operating campaigns, research and a host of DMO related services.

Go To Places is the parent company of Visit Kent and Visit Herts, who are responsible for supporting and growing the tourism industry in these regions. 

Go To Places is seeking to recruit an experienced Project Manager with sales experience to help deliver its portfolio of nationally and internationally funded tourism projects across Kent, Hertfordshire and beyond.  The ideal candidate will have a background in destination marketing and business liaison, and will have an interest in, or knowledge of, the arts and events.

Working with the in-house project directors, marketing and research teams, and a network of external partners, the Project Manager will lead on delivery of key B2C and B2B campaigns, and assist the wider team in boosting the UK visitor economy and marketing the participating destinations to target audiences in the UK, Europe and the USA.

Key accountabilities include:-

  • Management and delivery of two major projects
  • Project management assistance on other Go To Places projects as required
  • Business and client liaison across projects, including managing multiple relationships, organising workshops
  • and client meetings, ensuring regular partner/client communications, processing and chasing partner claims
  • and activities
  • Auditing and budget management, including working with EU consultants on claim processing
  • Delivering internal and external evaluation reports for key projects
  • Working with the travel trade and marketing managers on attendance at key trade shows and organising press visits
  • Line management of the Marketing Projects Executive
  • Working with the research team to commission and analyse data as required
  • Commissioning and working with media buying and creative agencies as required
  • Supporting the marketing teams on the delivery of strategic marketing campaigns for Visit Kent and Visit Herts when required
  • Develop positive working relationships with Go To Places investors and key stakeholders
  • Contributing information and content for campaign meetings, investor reports and Board reports, alongside monitoring results and feedback, and amending activity accordingly
  • Supporting the team at key functions, including external events and exhibitions
  • ‘Onboarding’ new businesses/partnerships to participate in projects

 

The ideal person will bring the following:

  • Minimum five years’ experience in project management (OR in a senior marketing role), which should include budget responsibility and people management
  • Experience in a B2C environment and working in tourism, charity, FMCG or arts/events sector
  • Extensive B2B, business and product development experience
  • Sales experience
  • Knowledge of the UK visitor economy, and an understanding of destination management and marketing
  • Demonstrable experience of producing and delivering project management plans
  • Experience in managing high-level, multiple stakeholder relationships
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence to liaise with external parties and key stakeholders
  • Highly competent in the use of Microsoft programmes
  • A passion for, and understanding of, the tourism industry

This is a permanent, full time role based in the office in Canterbury.  However, the job holder must have the ability and flexibility to travel around Kent, Hertfordshire and the rest of the UK.

Salary £30 – 35K
