New Board members elected to Tourism Society board
Two new board members were elected to the Tourism Society board at its AGM held at the office of the Welsh Government in London on July 9th.
Adam Bray is Senior Corporate Affairs Manager – Urban (and acting Head of Brand & Marketing) at The Crown Estate. He has experience in both agency and client-side roles across the private and public sector, and specialises in destination marketing.
Julian Zarb is a resident visiting lecturer in International Tourism Development, Sustainable Tourism, Malta’s Tourism Development and a doctorate student at the Institute for Travel, Tourism and Culture at the University of Malta. He has been working in the hospitality and tourism sector for over twenty five years, and has contributed to tourism research with a number of papers, book reviews and journal articles locally and internationally.
Four board members were re-elected for a further three-year term: Hayley Beer-Gamage, Chief Executive at Experience Oxfordshire, Mike Bugsgang, Chief Executive at GTOA, Chris Evans of The Tourism Company, and Veronica Tonge of VRIT Associates Ltd.
Two board members stood down at the AGM: Fiona Jeffery OBE and Malcolm Bell (Visit Cornwall).
Tourism Society chairman Sandra Matthews-Marsh MBE welcomed the new board members, saying “I am delighted that Adam and Julian have joined the Tourism Society board, adding to its diversity of experience and interests. The Society continues to attract members from right across the range of tourism sectors, and our board reflects that variety. I would also like to thank Fiona and Malcolm for their hard work and commitment during their time with us and I am sure that we will continue to liaise with them on topics relevant to their own areas of expertise.”
